The Beach Music and Shag Preservation Society of S.C., a non profit 501-C charitable organization brings to the Lowcountry the Fifth Annual Charleston Beach Music and Shag Festival.
The Festival this year will be held August 28 & 29 and sponsored by Pivots Beach Club and 95.9 FM. It will kick off with a Charleston Harbor Cruise on Friday night Aug 27. The festival is held at the Charleston National Guard Armory concourse, 68 Hagood Street, across from the Citadel Alumni House.
Shag Instruction and Shag Workshops will be held both days with Jerry and Barbara Wade along with Six Beach Music bands and five of the Best Carolina Beach, Boogie, and Blues DJs in the business. Shaggers and Beach Music lovers from 10 or more states will light on Charleston this August to Shag and listen to Beach Music. Bands this year include Sea Cruz, The Fabulous Shades, The East Coast Party Band, on Saturday and the Melody Makers, Jim Quick and Coastline Band and the Mighty Tams on Sunday.
