Middleton Place, a National Historic Landmark, includes America’s oldest landscaped Gardens, the House Museum, Plantation Stableyards, Outdoor Center, Museum Shop, Garden Market and Nursery and the Middleton Place Restaurant.
The Gardens reflect the elegant symmetry of 17th century European design and its geometric plan includes parterre gardens, reflection pools and sculptured terraces descending to the Butterfly Lakes. Guided tours of the House Museum interpret four generations of the Middleton family and their important role in American history. In the Stableyards, craftspeople recreate activities of the self-sustaining Low Country plantation. Guests can enjoy African American Focus Tours, Nature Walks, Carriage Tours, and Kayaking. The Restaurant presents Low Country fare for lunch daily and elegant candlelight dinners Tuesday through Sunday.
