The mission of the Summerville Community Orchestra is to enrich the cultural climate of the greater Summerville area with entertaining and educational performances; and to provide opportunities for volunteer musicians to play for the pure joy of it. The SCO, made up of volunteer professional and amateur musicians from around the lowcountry, was founded in 2003. The orchestra performs 7 concerts annually, including 5 that are free to the public. A member of the Charleston Symphony, Music Director/Conductor, Alexander Agrest, programs classical, pops and children’s concerts with rave reviews from critics and audiences.
