The Edisto Chamber of Commerce would like to invite you to visit Edisto Island – South Carolina’s best-kept secret. Edisto is the ultimate vacation destination. Come rent a beach cottage, throw a cast net for shrimp, dip your toes in the surf, or build a sandcastle. Experience the perfect combination of oceanfront beaches, saltwater marshes and Lowcountry oaks draped in Spanish moss.

A year-round temperate climate provides for excellent outdoor recreational opportunities. Our coastal waters are filled with fish, shrimp, crabs and oysters. Take a leisurely bike ride, hike a nature trail, or kayak in a tidal creek. Beach walks and golf are yet another popular pastime for that perfect day on Edisto.

We invite you to enjoy local seafood in our restaurants and look for unique items in our gift shops. Historic sites are prevalent on the Island and our picturesque roads beg for a drive. We have a rich cultural heritage in which you can share. Boat and land tours are available. Our casual lifestyle and slow pace are a welcome break from the rush of everyday life.

For your most memorable vacation or simply a day trip, come to where the rivers meet the ocean and let your cares drift away. We welcome you and hope your stay is so enjoyable that you just can’t wait to come back!

The stately Edmondston-Alston House was built in 1825 on Charleston’s High Battery and is one of the city’s most splendid dwellings. A witness to many dramatic events in Charleston’s history – look seaward from the second floor piazza where Gen. Beauregard watched the bombardment of Fort Sumter. The Edmondston-Alston House is a classic example of the city’s changing and sophisticated taste in architecture and decorative arts, and is a repository of fine family treasures. Alston family silver, furniture, books and paintings remain in place much as they have been for over a century and a half. The Edmondston-Alston House is a house museum of the Middleton Place Foundation.
