Jazz lovers alert! The Charleston Jazz Festival is back for its fourth year in the Holy City with a star-studded line-up. The festival has expanded to a four-day event with over 100 locally, regionally and nationally recognized jazz musicians in the lineup. The festival will take place January 18 – 21, 2018, with events at multiple locations throughout downtown Charleston, including the Gaillard Center, Charleston Music Hall, Renaissance Hotel, Sottile Theater, and Barsa Tapas Lounge and Bar.
The 2018 line-up is expected to draw over 3,500 people. This year’s roster will feature Kenny G and Nnenna Freelon, Freelon will perform Thursday, January 18th with the Charleston Jazz Orchestra (CJO), led by Music Director Charlton Singleton at the Charleston Music Hall. The concert theme is One Standard Time: The Great American Songbook. Kenny G and his band will headline the Saturday concert at the Gaillard Center on January 20th.
The festival will also highlight the talents of many of Charleston’s best local jazz artists through a series of three themed concerts at the Renaissance Hotel on January 19th:
Family Jazz Day will be held on Sunday, January 21 at the Sottile Theatre and will feature the Ken Foberg Jazz Quartet with Alva Anderson. Family Jazz Day is free for all students and children.
